Coming up at Taideniitty in 2026
Artists' House at Taideniitty, events organized with partners in 2026 - Stay tuned!

The opening of the “Our Shared World III” exhibition will be held on June 6, coinciding with the celebration of Taideniitty’s fifth cultural summer.
The atmosphere is thoroughly mystical, and the works invite viewers to look beyond the surface—to discover meanings that aren’t immediately apparent at first glance.
Admission to the exhibition is free.
The City of Varkaus
is supporting the summer exhibition and the cultural summer.

In this workshop, we’ll create a collaborative artwork using recycled materials!
The theme is “I Hear You – A Musical Artwork.” No prior experience is needed; just come with an open mind and be yourself.
Wear old clothes—it’s okay to get messy and let loose here!
The piece we create together will remain at Taideniitty for the summer season to delight visitors.
Accessible—we’ll be creating the piece outdoors.
Organized by Taideniitty

This is the fifth time we’re organizing a peace march in Varkaus.Everyone, join us this year! We deserve peace in the world. Visibility sparks action.
A single event brings people together who carry the message forward to the streets, into conversations, and onto social media.
People were already marching for peace back in the 1970s, and those actions still resonate today.
Even small actions matter.
Program at the Taideniitty outdoor stage:
– Songs of spring and peace
– Poems of peace
The Taideniitty outdoor café and bar will be open, serving light snacks. Bring banners, peace signs, drums, tambourines, and flowers. Dress in bright colors.
The Peace March is politically non-partisan and open to everyone.
This year’s event highlights the importance of crisis response and safe ways to help those in need.

Art That Takes a Stand
Lecture: Art That Takes a Stand
Time: April 25 at 2:00 p.m.
Location: Varkaus Museum Center Konsti, Satakunnankatu 1, Krankin Älypaja
Heidi Linsén, the April artist-in-residence at the Taideniitty Artists’ House (with support from the Toini Markkanen Foundation), will give a lecture on socially engaged art. The event will explore, among other things, what socially engaged art is and what it can be, as well as the significance and relevance of art in contemporary society in Finland and around the world.
The lecture will also include a discussion of the artist’s own practice and the starting points for her works, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
Heidi Linsén (b. 1976) is a textile and installation artist whose work centers on materiality and social observation. Her works examine the relationship between individual experience and social structures, as well as the significance of participation, public space, and emotions in contemporary culture.
Linsén’s work lies at the intersection of material-based thinking, feminist practice, and social discourse. The works do not offer ready-made answers, but invite the viewer to participate and reflect on their own relationship to the themes addressed.
Welcome to join us for a listen and a discussion.
