The Genealogy Residence Wind provides a nostalgic setting for genealogy in the historic heart of Old Varkaus. Built in 1916, our wooden house, the Taideniitty, now houses accommodation, a summer café, a shaman's drum workshop, an art gallery, a communal studio and private studio space. Wind is a 50 m2 fireplace room with wood stoves and wood-burning stoves, which can accommodate 2 people. The residence has been renovated with respect for the old. Our beautiful courtyard is a common area for everyone; you can sit in the evening and barbecue - the house offers a gas barbecue for your use at no charge. The marina on the shores of Lake Saimaa is only a couple of hundred metres away and all basic services such as shops, pharmacy, hairdresser, laundry, florist, R-kiosk, restaurants and church can be found within a radius of about one kilometre. In Taideniity you can also enjoy the warmth of the garden sauna and if you wish you can do your laundry, dry your clothes and iron them.
